Recent usability studies have revealed that the average visitor spends 25-35 seconds on the home page. You don't have much time to make an impression. Do a quick check of your home page. Make sure it gets to the point quickly and includes -
- benefits that your company offers them
- something about your latest products and services
- clearly named links to get them to the relevant section for them
Once they get to the relevant section, users typically spend 45-60 seconds scanning the page. So you have a bit more time here and can present more detailed content.t.
In either case (home page or interior page),
- Use a highlight text color to guide the eye quickly to key words and phrases.
- Place these "above the fold" so the user sees them without having to scroll.
The search engines like more text on the home page than the typical user. Continue to write 250 words or more on the home page, just be sure the key information is positioned for quick browsing by your visitors.
Worldwide there are now more than a billion users on the Internet. Incredible!
