MEET THE GIRLS!

Baby Chicks

Originating in England and introduced to this country in the late 1800's the Buff Orpington was for many years one of the most popular breeds on American farms. These "Golden Beauties" are large, stately birds of quiet disposition. Their heavy, full plumage makes them excellent winter layers, shelling out brown eggs right through cold weather.

Buff Orphington

The Buff Orpington is also a beautiful eating bird -- white-skinned, plump, and juicy -- and the hens make very good setters and mothers. Here at Chick Farm we gather up eggs from guinea fowl and give them to our Buff Orpington hens, who do a wonderful job of hatching and raising batches of young guineas.

For the winter 2005-2006 we have plenty of eggs & rabbit meat available at the farm.
