Goodwill Industries of the BerkshiresIn December 2010, we got involved with our local Goodwill Industries. The web site was old, out-of-date and no one knew how to update it. To jumpstart the project, we started by building a Facebook Business Page, which helped us get to know the non-profit better while quickly improving the web presence and search rankings. Once the Facebook page was up-and-running, we solved the domain names and web hosting problems, donated our Professional Web Business Package and installed the new web site on a more professional, but affordable web host. The main target market for Goodwill Industries is donors and shoppers. Goodwill needs donations of clothing and goods from the community to stock the retail stores. Sales in the retail stores support job training programs for the community. The site home page is designed with a section for latest news, events and promotions - this section is specifically designed for regular and seasonal updates that can be installed with little effort. The store and donation pages provide information for each of the target markets (shoppers and donors) with locations, map links and contact information. The Facebook page includes a 'Goodwill Finds' photo album promoting the great thrift shop finds. The Senior & Veterans Discount days and other events are promoted with Facebook events, a Google Calendar and email. Within 3 months, the site was well-established in the search engines. Visitors to the site increase each month as do Facebook 'likes'. We are currently building email lists for an e-newsletter addition as the third major component of their 'marketing mix'. THE RESULTS (April 2011):
