The Rennsteig crosses between Thuringia, it's red, white & blue lion coat-of-arms - auf Deutsch die Wappen - on the left and Bavaria, with that recognizable blue and white diamond coat-of-arms sported by BMWs. This is the former East/West Germany border. This sign marks the celebration of reopening the Rennsteig here.
