The Merrimack Valley Garden club was founded sometime around 1977 as the BTL (Bell Telephone Laboratories) Garden Club
in North Andover, Massachusetts, by employees at Lucent Technologies, known then as Western Electric.
Over the years the club held plant fairs, helped out with Pioneer club activities and other community events.
For a complete history from the club president, click here.
Today the club sponsors an annual plant swap, maintains an email list
and organizes local garden tours.
Most members have retired or left Lucent in the past few years. In fact, some of us don't even live
in the area anymore, but stay in touch, exchanging gardening tips, recipes, etc.
Around 1997, the club website appeared on the company Intranet.
In 2002, the club website also left the company and moved to the Internet.
What's next? Who knows, but we all still love to garden and share gardening tips!
